BMA urges medical workforce exemption to new immigration changes

Yesterday, BMA council chair Mark Porter wrote to immigration minister James Brokenshire, urging that the medical workforce and the NHS are exempted from potentially damaging recommended changes to the Tier 2 (General) working visa.The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) has made a number of key recommendations to the Government, which if implemented, will have a significant impact on the medical workforce and wider public services. Our immigration experts have been assessing the recommendations and have identified those which will have the most impact if implemented.
